부동산서비스 업체인 Altus Group의 자료에 의하면 2018년중 콘도 구매가 약화된 한해였지만, Menkes가 다운타운 온타리오 호숫가에 분양한 Sugar Wharf 콘도가 1,463채 중 1,241채가 분양되어 85% 분양율로 최고 실적을 달성한 프로젝트였으며, 동 프로젝트는 1년전에 착공하였고, 5개 주거동이 최고 90층까지 건축되어 7,500세대가 입주하며, 임대용 건물과 4천명이 일할 수 있는 사무실 및 식당, 상가 등이 입주하며 다운타운 동쪽 호숫가 11.5에이커에 개발이 된다.

Sugar Wharf was 2018’s best-selling condo project

A development on Toronto’s waterfront has been named the best-selling condo project of 2018. Sugar Wharf Residences from Menkes Developments was ranked #1 by Altus Group and has been hailed a major achievement for the developer in a year where buyer confidence and sales activity has weakened. In summer 2018, Menkes launched the first two residential towers and sold 1241 condo units out of a total of 1463 units (85%).

"The strong response to Sugar Wharf is especially meaningful coming out of 2018, where many builders experienced a shift in market conditions. Increasingly, there has been a flight to quality by prospective homeowners, opting for brands they know and trust, and we are fortunate to be one of those brands." The development broke ground a year ago and when it’s completed it will be the largest mixed-use development on Toronto’s waterfront with homes for 7,500 in 5 residential towers of up to 90 stories and a mid-rise rental building, and offices for 4,000 workers. There will also be restaurants and shops. In all, the East Bayfront development will cover 11.5 acres.
